Wi-Fi 6E procurement checklist for European businesses
An access-point refresh succeeds only when the clients, wired network, power budget and radio design are ready for it. This checklist turns a Wi-Fi 6E purchase into a deployment plan.

1. Confirm the regulatory domain
Record the country where every access point will operate and confirm the vendor supports its 6 GHz profile there. European 6 GHz rules are not interchangeable with US Standard Power and AFC guidance.
2. Audit the client estate
List the laptops, phones, tablets and specialist devices that need 6 GHz. Record chipset, operating system, driver and WPA3 support. Older clients can continue on 2.4 or 5 GHz, but they do not gain 6 GHz capability from a new access point.
3. Check the wired path and power
Confirm switch uplink speed, PoE class and total PoE budget per switch. Review cable category and run length, controller or cloud licensing, firewall capacity and the internet or WAN bottleneck before selecting access points.
4. Survey, model and validate
Model 6 GHz propagation against real walls, floors, bulkheads and mounting restrictions. After installation, validate coverage, roaming, channel use and priority applications from representative client devices rather than relying only on access-point telemetry.
5. Make handover measurable
Agree acceptance criteria before ordering. Keep the final access-point schedule, switch ports, power budget, configuration baseline, coverage results and exceptions in the handover pack.
